2026 German Nature Writing Award Ceremony
Alexander Schnickmann’s award-winning text «Fuck Nature Start Writing» unfolds as an editorially framed work of documentary writing, subverting the expectations of the nature writing genre. Through a montage of emails, traces, and omissions, it reflects on the conditions underlying literary descriptions of nature, shifting the boundaries between archive, fiction, and critique. The result is a formally independent, linguistically precise work that poses new questions about the relationship between human beings, language, and the natural world. The prize winner, along with fellows Lena Schnabl and Kameliya Taneva, will discuss their work and read from it.
