Graphic Novel Day
Roya sits at the table with her Iranian family. The sound of the language is familiar, but she can barely understand the words. She grows up in Hannover. When she travels to Iran with her father for the first time, she feels a sense of belonging and estrangement at once. Roya Soraya’s autobiographical graphic novel uses vivid imagery to tell the story of her self-discovery as a queer woman and of growing up between two cultures, each of which captures only part of who she is.
