Carlos Soto Román is a Chilean poet, translator and pharmaceutical biochemist. He holds a master’s degree in bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania and was a MacDowell Fellow. His documentary poetry works with archival material on the history of the Chilean dictatorship, including in «Chile Project: Re-Classified» and «11», which won him the Santiago Poetry Prize in 2018. He also made the Spanish translation of Charles Reznikoff’s «Holocaust». In 2025, his poetry collection «Antuco», co-authored with Carlos Cardani-Parra, also appeared in German translation with Parasitenpresse. Carlos Soto Román is a 2026 DAAD fellow and lives in Berlin for the duration of the fellowship.
