Acting and creative writing workshop / Meet & Greet with J. M. M. Nuanez
After the death of their mother, Jack and her younger brother Birdie first live with their loving but unreliable Uncle Carl, and later with their conservative Uncle Patrick. However, Patrick doesn’t have much tolerance for Birdie’s glittering clothes. When Birdie is bullied at school, Patrick decides he has to give up anything ‘extravagant’. The book deals with loss, trust, and gender expression in a moving and warm-hearted way.
What happens during the workshop?
The story of the siblings Jack and Birdie is the starting point for the students’ own texts and scenes about art and the challenge of finding the right place for oneself in an environment that above all demands adaptation.
