Irene Vallejo: Papyrus

In »Papyrus« (translated into German by Maria Meinel and Luis Ruby), renowned classical scholar Irene Vallejo takes readers on a journey through the turbulent history of the book, from the first collections in the Library of Alexandria to the fall of the Roman Empire. She illuminates how books travel through time and space as tireless messengers of ideas and stories. A »treasure trove of stories, myths, and facts that Vallejo skillfully weaves into a cultural history of reading« (Spektrum).

To kick off the event, Anna-Elisabeth Besarab will read an excerpt of Anna Seghers’ »Die Gefährten« as part of the SPECIAL »1933–2023«.

Hosted by Hernán D. Caro.

The event will be in German and Spanish.
