Acting and dance workshop / Meet and Greet with Elle McNicoll
In class, Addie learns about women who were condemned as witches in her village centuries ago – because they were misunderstood by the people around them. Being misunderstood is something Addie knows very well. She has to mask every day, and hide the fact that her environment often over-stimulates her. Yet she is constantly bullied at school. Determined to give the persecuted women a voice, Addie campaigns for a memorial in the village square – and finds her own voice too.
What happens during the workshop?
Using the possibilities of theater and dance, the students approach the world of Addie, deal with issues such as exclusion, acceptance and diversity, and learn that it sometimes takes courage to stand up for others.
