Tash Aw: Strangers on a Pier

German Book Premiere

When Tash Aw’s grandfathers traveled across the sea from southern China to Singapore over a hundred years ago, they settled on the Malaysian mainland and never returned. In »Strangers on a Pier«, the author combines personal experiences with his family’s migration history. The search for belonging also paints a portrait of Asia’s diversity and complexity. »The price of acquired privilege is the great theme of Aw« (Guardian).
