Born in 1983 in Ivano-Frankivsk, she is a Ukrainian writer and essayist. She studied philology at the Precarpathian University in Ivano-Frankivsk and subsequently worked as a cultural and investigative journalist in Kyiv. In 2011, she emigrated to Austria. She is the author of several novels and one children’s book. Her most recent works published in German include the novel »Blauwal der Erinnerung« [Blue Whale of Memory, 2019] and the essay collection »Gleich geht die Geschichte weiter, wir atmen nur aus« [The Story Will Continue in a Moment, We’re Just Catching Our Breath, 2022]. In 2018, she was awarded the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, and in 2024 she received the Jeanette Schocken Prize. In 2022, she curated the Munich Literature Festival with a focus on Ukraine. Since 2025, she has been co-editor of the eight-volume Ukrainian Library published by Wallstein Verlag. She lives in Vienna and writes regularly for German-language media.
