studied Slavic studies and history at the Universities of Vienna and Constance and, since her habilitation in 2004, has worked as a university lecturer in Erfurt and Jena, among other places. Study and research stays took her to Moscow and Prague. She has been Professor of East Slavic Literatures and Cultures at the Humboldt University in Berlin since 2009.
