Simone Schröder is Head of Program at ILB. She studied literary studies, Hispanic studies and political science in Mainz, then lived in London for several years, completing her doctorate on nature essay writing at the University of Bath in 2017. Her book «The Nature Essay: Ecocritical Explorations» was published in 2019. Alongside her festival work, she is a translator, editor and essayist. Since 2024, she has been co-editor of «Box of Rain Press», a micropress specializing in chapbooks. Her writing has received awards including the Edit Essay Prize and the «Merkur» essay prize, and she has held fellowships at the LCB and the Jürgen Ponto Foundation. She lives in Berlin.
