Biography
Paul Holdengräber studied comparative literature in Belgium and received a Ph.D. from Princeton University. He has taught at numerous universities and has received several grants and prizes for his work – among them, he was named a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. Holdengräber founded and directed the Institute for Art and Cultures at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and since 2004 has been programme director of New York’s Public Library and is responsible for its public reading programme.
