born in 1964, studied biology, philosophy, and the history of science. He is the head of biodiversity discovery at the Natural History Museum in Berlin and a lecturer at the Humboldt-Universität. His research covers evolutionary biology, systematics, taxonomy and the history of science. In 2015, he published the book »Die Kunst der Benennung« (Eng. »The Art of Naming«, 2018), followed by 2018’s »Stachel und Staat« (tr: Sting and State). Michael Ohl lives on the outskirts of Berlin.
