Biography
born 1957, he is a Lithuanian translator and literary critic. He graduated from Vilnius university (English Language and Literature) in 1980. 1981-1990 he was employed in a bookshop; afterwards he worked at Radio Free Europe in Prague. Since 2000 he has been a freelance translator, reviewer and essayist. He has translated over 20 books, by G. Steiner, T. Capote, S. Rushdie, J. Updike, V. Nabokov and others. He is the author of several books on literature, culture, politics.
