Laennec Hurbon

Laennec Hurbon was born in Jacmel, Haiti. He studied Theology and Sociology in Paris and is a founding member and professor of Quisqueya University in Port-au-Prince, as well as a scientist at the Paris CNRS. He has written several socio-anthropological works on subjects including Haitian voodoo and slavery, among them ‘Le barbare imaginaire’ (1988) and ‘Pour une sociologie d’Haiti au XXIe siècle’ (2001).
