Karen Lord

born in 1968 in Barbados, worked in several public service fields and in academic, diplomatic and military institutions. Apart from being an author, she is also a research consultant. Her highly imaginative novels combine folkloristic influences with elements of contemporary fantasy while challenging societal power structures. In »Unraveling« (2019), the initial crime plot artfully segues into a labyrinthian narrative entailing coalesced memories, apparitions and mythical parallel worlds.
