Ibrahima Thioub

Ibrahima Thioub is chairman of the history department at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, and Director of the Institut Virtuel des Hautes Etudes sur les Esclavages et les Traites. His area of research spans slavery, human trafficking, alcoholism, juvenile crime and the prison system in West African history. Thioub was vice-president of the Association of African Historians from 2001 to 2007, and is president of the Association de Recherche Ouest Africaine since 2003.
