born in 1980 in Sudan, is a feminist human rights lawyer and writer. She studied human rights at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. As the founder of a legal aid center in Sudan, she advocates for people who have been criminalized by war, authoritarianism, and patriarchal rule. Her work aims to confront state violence and provide legal support to those affected. For over a decade, she has fought for justice and accountability. Working closely with local communities, she documents human rights violations, challenges impunity, and resists the normalization of state repression. Her writings – published in »Madameek«, »Al-Baeed«, and other critical platforms – expose the myths of colonial continuities and authoritarian regimes. Through them, she weaves together legal analysis and radical feminist praxis. Bilingual in Arabic and English, Hekma Yagoub regards language as a site of resistance. She uses narrative space to question power structures, preserve collective memory, and imagine liberation beyond violence. Hekma Yagoub lives in Scotland.
