Hans-Hendrik Grimmling
was born in 1947, and studied Art in Leipzig and Dresden. He has worked as a freelance artist since 1977, initially in Leipzig, and from 1986 onwards in West Berlin. He has been a Professor at the Berlin Technische Kunsthochschule since 2007. His autobiography »Die Umerziehung der Vögel« (tr: The Re-Education of Birds) was published in 2008 and describes among other things his life in the Leipzig art scene, the 1st Leipzig Autumn Salon and his passage from East to West.
