Biography
born in 1957, studied sociology and political science at the University of Regensburg, where he received his doctorate in 1987, before taking a position as a postgraduate researcher at its Chair for Politics and Public Law. He worked in Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica as a project manager for sociopolitical policy consulting. Since 2004 Maihold has been the deputy director of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs and an honorary professor at the Freie Universität Berlin.
