Biography
born in 1958 in Westerholz, Rathjen studied journalism, German and English in Münster. He has been translating from English since 1989, including works by Joyce, Melville, Twain, Robert L. Stevenson, and Henry James. A book reviewer since 1983, he has also published his own poems, short stories, and monographs on Joyce and Beckett. Since 2009, publisher of the trade journal »Bargfelder Bote«, covering the work of Arno Schmidt. In 2013, Rathjen won the Paul Celan translation prize.
