Carmela Negrete Navarro was born in Nerva, Spain, in 1984. She writes for eldiario.es, »Diagonal«, »junge Welt« and »neues deutschland«, among others. She claims that Europe has never been a »social« space and asks why the EU is engaged financially and politically in the current Ukrainian crisis, while not devoting the same attention to the protests occurring in its member state Spain. She sympathizes with people who approve of Europe – yet not in its present state.
