Susanne Schmeidl

born in Lindenberg (im Allgau) in 1965; educated in Germany, the US and Canada, she received a PhD in Political Sociology from The Ohio State University (US).  She is a transdisciplinary scholar-practitioner with nearly three decades of experience working at the intersection of conflict, peace and development. Between 2002 and 2014 she worked in Afghanistan with two grass-roots organisations she co-founded on civilian peacebuilding and research to inform development, humanitarian and peacebuilding actors.  She is the Project Director of Afghanistan Conflict Sensitive Mechanism (swisspeace/Saferworld) and an Honorary academic at UNSW Sydney.
