Arno Lustiger

Arno Lustiger was born in Bedzin, Poland in 1924. He survived the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps and was a founding father of the Jewish community in Frankfurt am Main after the war. He has devoted several books to the subject of the Jewish resistance. Lustiger has been awarded the German Cross of Merit of the First Order and an honorary doctorate by Potsdam University. He was visiting professor at the Fritz Bauer Institute at Frankfurt University from 2004 to 2006 and was appointed professor by the state of Hessen in 2007. Arno Lustiger has died May 15th 2012 in the age of 88 in Frankfurt (Main).
