Alma Guillermoprieto

born in Mexico in 1949, studied modern dance in New York. She has reported on Latin America for periodicals (»New Yorker«, »New York Review of Books«). She has long been considered an authority on political journalism. In 1991 she published »Samba«, a book about Brazil and its folk music tradition. »La Havanna en un Espejo« (2005; Eng. »Dancing with Cuba: A Memoir of the Revolution«, 2005) is the first of her works to be translated in German, entitled »Havanna im Spiegel. Eine Erinnerung an die Revolution« (2009). She lives in Mexico City and Chicago.
