Hiroko Oyamada: The Hole

After moving from the city to the countryside, Asa finds herself next door to her parents-in-law. While her husband throws himself into his work, Asa is suddenly confronted with life as a housewife. One day she falls into a hole that seems to have been dug just for her. This is the prelude to a series of bizarre events that make Asa doubt her sanity and cause her to question her role in this world – a »surreal and mesmerizing book« (New York Times).
