pandemic and communication

Since the beginning of the Corona pandemic, the news worldwide has been dominated by the pandemic. As early as May 2020, virologist Melanie Brinkmann joined many physicians and scientists in calling for politicians to take effective action against misinformation about the COVID19 pandemic and to defend virologists from uninformed criticism. She is also a member of the No-Covid Initiative, an interdisciplinary group of scientists that has worked to formulate a sustainable reopening strategy. In her talk, Melanie Brinkmann will review the important stages of communication about the virus in science, between science and politics, and between politics and society and the media, and explore the question of whether we have learned anything since we heard the first news from Wuhan and since we saw the first pictures from Bergamo.
