We are delighted that Salman Rushdie will be awarded the Peace Prize of German Book Trade in fall! The board of the Peace Prize of German Book Trade explains the choice:
»We honor Salman Rushdie for his unyielding and life-affirming nature, and for enriching the world with his joy of storytelling«
Salman Rushdie will present his new novel »Victory City« at Großes Haus des Berliner Ensembles on September 10th, at 4pm. Joining via live stream, Rushdie talks to renowned German author Daniel Kehlmann and host Bernhard Robben. It will be the first time the Indian-American author appears in the German public since suffering from an attack at a reading in New York last year in which he was critically injured, losing an eye.
In »Victory City« Rushdie returns to India. The epic novel on power, love, and what it means to be human tells the story of Pampa Kampana, a nine-year old orphan girl in 14th century Southern India who possesses supernatural powers.
Tickets are available via the Berliner Ensemble now.
