Marianne Heske

is a Norwegian artist known especially for her video paintings and installations that explore the interaction between humanity and nature. She studied at Bergen National Academy of the Arts, Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris, Royal College of Art in London, and Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. One of her most famous works is »Prosjekt Gjerdeløa« from 1980, which involved the location of a 350-year-old barn from Tafjord to Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and is considered one of the first conceptual artworks in Norway. In 2015 she set up the installation »House of Commons« outside of Parliament in Oslo. The artist has had many solo exhibitions in Norway and internationally. Her artwork has been purchased by a number of art institutions in Norway, in addition to private collections both in Norway and abroad. She is represented in various galleries and collections including Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht, Shanghai City Art Collection, Astrup Fearnley Museum, Oslo, the National Museum, Oslo, Henie-Onstad Art Center, Oslo, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Museum of Modern Art in Seoul, Korea, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, Ville de Paris, Duolun Museum, Shanghai, Kistefos Collection, Oslo, Tangen Collection, Norway, and H.M. Queen Sonja’s Art Collection, Norway.
