Biography
born in Chemnitz in 1943. The writer and journalist worked first as a locksmith and stage hand before studying Literary Studies and Art History in Berlin. He worked as an editor for Der Morgen publishing house. From 1969 to 1989 he was under observation by the GDR State Security. Together with Ines Geipel he founded the Archive for Suppressed Literature in the GDR in the Stiftung Aufarbeitung in 2004. He is the editor of the 10-volume »Die Verschwiegene Bibliothek« (tr: The Secretive Library).
