In 2028, the »Future Center for German Unity and European Transformation« is scheduled to open in Halle (Saale). But can it succeed in making the achievements and experiences of people from the former GDR and in today’s East Germany visible? In their current books, Katja Hoyer and Dirk Oschmann provide new perspectives on East/West German perceptions, thus igniting a debate. Together with sociologist Steffen Mau, they discuss the possibility of re-evaluating the history of the GDR.
