Stories from Kabul: Contemporary Afghan Literature

Two prominent Afghan authors read from their recent works: Homeira Qaderi comes all the way from the U.S. to share insights from her successful memoir, »Dancing in the Mosque«, while Siamak Herawi, who now lives in the U.K., presents his novel »Tali Girls,« newly translated into English. Both writers lived in Kabul until the Taliban took power in mid-August 2021 and will also talk about their personal experiences of writing in exile.

Curated by Taqi Akhlaqi, writer, dramaturge and fellow in the program »Weltoffenes Berlin« at the international literature festival berlin.

To kick off the event, Mumtaz Ibrahim Isack will read parts of Egon Erwin Kisch’s »Landung in Australien«, as part of the Special »1933–2023«.
