Moshtari Hilal: Ugliness

Who actually determines what is beautiful and what is ugly? Why are we afraid of ugliness? Highly poetic and intimate, Moshtari Hilal tells a story of self-images and self-doubt. Her search for clues leads to Darwin’s theory of evolution, to beauty salons in Kabul, to Kim Kardashian and the utopian place in the shadow of the nose. She presents personal memories, analyses, found images and her own drawings, and leads us into that innermost realm where self-image is put to the test.
