Criminal Women. A History of Female Criminality

Female criminality has existed throughout the ages: from the biblical Judith who beheaded Holofernes, to the French revolutionary Charlotte Corday who stabbed Jean-Paul Marat, to Valerie Solanas who assassinated Andy Warhol. Why do we know so little about them? Does criminology have a gender bias? The editor of the volume »Criminal Women« (2023), Jadwiga Kamola, and author and activist Tayo Awosusi-Onutor discuss women criminals and female criminalization. They particularly look at the situation of marginalized women during the Nazi era and in the present.
