Part I. Kathrin Röggla: »The Water«

What does climate change mean for water, the substance on which we depend even more than on gas and oil? In the play of the same name, Kathrin Röggla paints a picture of a society oscillating between heavy rainfall and intense heat, a society that every day comes closer to the growing abyss of excessive demands. Actors read the text, which draws attention to a transformation that has already begun and represents one of the greatest challenges of our time.

Part II. Panel discussion with Dr. Des. Desirée Hetzel and Prof. Dr. Tobias Krüger from Humboldt-Universität Berlin

The reading will be followed by a discussion with the author of the play. Kathrin Röggla will answer questions from the audience. In addition, scientists from Berlin universities and CliWaC [Einstein Research Unit Climate and Water under Change] will be present to engage in an active dialogue with visitors on the explosive topic of the future of water. At the interface of science and art, a discourse will be opened that will enable participants to reflect on their own connection to water.
