Tàssies: Noms robats/ El nen perdut

Talk, reading with picture book screening, live illustration, Q&A

»Noms robats«:
A boy who experiences life as an outsider at school finally finds a friend. But his happiness is short-lived. Soon they take away his friend and with her his joy of life. What begins as a list of good things leads to a story about the deprived circumstances of a boy who is even robbed of his name. With colorful illustrations and sophisticated compositions, the picture book is an unsparing examination of the consequences of bullying.

Other featured book »El nen perdut«:
On the day before Epiphany, the figure of Jesus has disappeared from a child’s crib. In a dream, the child embarks on an adventurous search for the figure. In contrast-rich and color-intensive pictures, the growing up of children in conditions shaped by peace as well as by war and flight is skillfully contrasted. The surreal picture book offers an insight into the world of children’s dreams, in which destruction and displacement are processed in a child-friendly, hopeful way.

The event takes place as part of the special »Spotlight Spain« on the occasion of Spain’s guest country appearance at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2022.
