Peter Brook: Marat/Sade

The play by Peter Weiss depicts the discourse of contrasting worldviews, namely of Marquis de Sade, a high-grade individualist who mostly wrote his novels in mental asylums, and the radical spokesman of the French Revolution Jean Paul Marat. After its 1964 premiere at Berlin’s Schiller Theater, the Tony Award-winning film adaptation by Peter Brook was made in 1967 and will be screened in his memory.
