opening 21st ilb

Leїla Slimani will deliver the opening address of the 21st ilb. The 2016 Prix Goncourt­winning Franco-­Moroccan author’s latest novel, »In the Country of Others« [2021], takes place after World War 2 and tells of the marriage between a French woman and a Moroccan. Among other things, Slimani will talk about what it means for her as a woman to write in our present. To kick things off, Masha Qrella plays songs from her record »Woanders« [tr. Elsewhere], inspired by the poetry of Thomas Brasch.
