Oh Boy, are you serious? – A Stage for Activists, Authors, and the Audience.

Panel Discussion with Contributions by:
Initiative “Keine Show für Täter” (Audio Input)

Host: Toby Ashraf

Participants: Sandra Reichert, Jorinde Wiese, Ila Mägdefrau, Lavinia Frey (Festival Director)

The event was made possible by the kind support of the Foundation Frauen in Europa/TuWas-Stiftung für Gemeinsinn.

The distribution of the book “Oh Boy. Männlichkeit*en heute” with texts by 18 authors has been stopped. The associated events have also been canceled. The article “Ein glücklicher Mensch” (“A Happy Man”), which deals with sexualized violence, was published against the will of the affected person. Activists from “Keine Show für Täter_Berlin” exposed this violation by publishing a statement by the affected person. Contributors to the book have also expressed their solidarity. They speak for themselves, each with their own view of masculinities, including queer and BPoC perspectives.

The newly conceptualized event “Oh Boy, are you serious?” provides a platform for the voices desired by the affected person. They have expressed themselves through activism, analysis, and literature. They put what is happening into a larger context and point to structures that make such cases possible in the first place. The panel brings discourses on sexualized violence, masculinity and beyond from the web into the festival and invites the audience to contribute their own ideas and questions.

An event in the frame of »Words of Love and Hate«. The special will feature authors who explore femicide, solidarity among women, utopian gender relations, and possibilities of community. This year, the special will focus on gender roles.

The event is free. Please book a free ticket via the button below to gain access to the event.
