Haris Vlavianos: The Art of Translation

Award-winning poet Haris Vlavianos, editor of the renowned literary journal »Poetics«, has translated works by Whitman, Pound, Ashbery, Carson, and Pessoa into Greek. Most recently, he has translated T.S. Eliot’s »The Wasteland« as well as volumes by Emily Dickinson and Nobel Prize winner in literature Louise Glück. In his talk, he will discuss the nature of translation, the translator’s task, and the rewards of what Dante calls »i movimenti del spirito«.
