Debates about the political and institutional treatment of colonial looted art have been shaping public discourse for some time. In curatorial practice, too, the necessity of restitution is being discussed, as well as practices of exhibiting objects in new contexts. Götz Aly [historian and author of the bestseller »Das Prachtboot«], Bénédicte Savoy [via live stream, art historian and coeditor of the pictorial atlas on art theft and cultural heritage »Beute« tr: Loot] and Nana Oforiatta Ayim [writer and art historian, who designed Ghana’s first pavilion for the Venice Biennale 2019] talk about the current state of affairs.
