It’s the final countdown! Day 10 of the 24th ilb brought international and German-speaking authors together once again to celebrate the end of ten days of extraordinary literature and festival atmosphere.
Paul Lynch presented his novel “The Prophet’s Song”, which won the Booker Prize in 2023, in a German premiere. The event was hosted by Bernhard Robben, with Christian Berkel lending his voice to the German passages translated by Eike Schönfeld.
Nnedi Okorafor, a star of the American literary scene and the founder of African Futurism, took to the ilb stage and presented her novel “She Who Knows” together with Hadnet Tesfai.
Mkuki Bgoya and Lola Shoneyin discussed how the publishing world can be decolonized and how the multilingualism of literature can find expression in publishing.
With Iunona Guruli’s book presentation, the ilb continued its cooperation with Parataxe, Berliner Literarische Aktion and brought the Berlin-based Georgian writer to the stage with her novel “Brief ohne Absender”.
At the end of the event, which was filled to capacity with “Geile Zeit. Extremely close and incredibly far”, Caroline Wahl and Niclas Seydack heralded the end of the 24th ilb, which came to a glorious end with beats by Wall Ra and Carl Hang until the early hours of the morning.
