Zsuka Nagy was born in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, in 1977. She studied Hungarian language and literature at the local college and at the University of Miskolc and has published five volumes of poetry to date.
Zsuka Nagy’s poems are written in free verse; spoken language is mixed with lyrical images. In terms of content, she deals with major themes such as family, illness, old age and death and looks in particular at people on the margins of society. »Somehow poetry was never grammar or rhythm for me, it was always like love. Everything was possible in it«, said the author in an interview with the Hungarian culture magazine Kultura.hu. »I work mainly according to emotional logic. And I have wandered the streets, cycle paths and parks more than libraries. My knowledge doesn’t come from dictionaries, but from experience«. [József Fekete] The most recent publication is »Verspiktogramok / Verspiktogramme«, a German-Hungarian volume with several so-called treks, in which Zsuka Nagy’s poems form a creative connection with the illustrations by Jofo (József Fekete).
Zsuka Nagy lives in Nyíregyháza.
