Yavuz Ekinci was born in 1979 in Turkey. He is an author, scriptwriter and an educator. He published nine books and has received significant recognition for his works. »Cennetin Kayıp Toprakları« (2012; tr: The Faraway Village of My Childhood), the story of a woman who survived the Armenian Genocide, was adapted for cinema and won the Special Jury Prize at the Istanbul Film Festival. His short story »Bana İsmail Deyin« (tr. Call Me Ismail) was adapted into a play by the Schauspiel Dortmund Theatre in 2018. His novel »Rüyası Bölünenler« (2014; tr. Dream Splitters) was recently confiscated in Turkey for political reasons. He resides in Istanbul.
