Yasser Niksada
- Afghanistan, Germany, Iran
- Guest at the ilb: 2025
born in 2002 in a suburb of Tehran to Afghan refugee parents from the Panjshir Valley, he fled to Europe at the age of 13, leaving his parents and siblings behind in Iran. In Berlin, he attended school up to the 10th grade and is currently training as a warehouse logistics specialist at an auto parts distributor. In his free time, he writes poetry and has been an active member of »The Poetry Project« for many years. Writing in Persian, his poetry explores the feeling of being torn between worlds. The writing process helps him cope with the experience of fleeing his home and the painful arrival in a new life far from his family. His work has been published in the »The Poetry Project« anthologies »I Wanted to Stay. I Left.« (2019) and »Be Beside Me and See What Has Happened to Me« (2024), the latter of which takes its title from one of his poems.
