
Velia Vidal

born in 1982 in Bahía Solano, Colombia, is a writer, journalist, festival director, and specialist in social management. She studied Afro-Latin American Studies and holds a Master’s degree in Reading Education and Children’s Literature. Vidal is the founder and director of the Motete Educational and Cultural Corporation and the Chocó Reading and Writing Festival [FLECHO]. For her autobiographical, correspondence-based work »Tidal Waters« [tr. Annie McDermott], she was awarded the Afro-Colombian Authors Publication Grant, presented by the Colombian Ministry of Culture. She lives in Medellín, Colombia.
