born in 1957 in Munich, is a German evolutionary biologist and journalist. He studied pharmacy at the Universität Freiburg and earned his PhD in 1989 with a dissertation on Darwinism and botany at the Universität Marburg. Since 2003 he has taught the history of biosciences at the Universität Tübingen. He has published numerous books and articles on the history and theory of evolutionary biology and anthropology. Junker lives in Frankfurt am Main.
