Biography
Ralph Tharayil, born in 1986 in Switzerland to South Indian parents, is a writer, director, and translator, working through text, performance, and audio. His academic pursuits in History, Media and Literature Sciences were undertaken at the University of Basel. His literary debut, »Nimm die Alpen weg« (2023; tr: Take the Alps away), was met with raving reviews and earned recognition with the esteemed Alfred Döblin-Medal. Tharayil also distinguished himself in translation with the upcoming publication of Kopano Maroga’s poetry collection »Jesus Thesis« through Akono Verlag. Tharayil resides in Berlin.
