Nino Bulling is an artist and author who works in the fields of installation, drawing and publishing strategies. They have written four graphic novels that are characterized by a political interest in the documentary quality of the medium, including »Bruchlinien. Three episodes on the NSU« (2019) co-authored with Anne König and »Lichtpause« (2017).
His most recent publication is the anthology „Cutes: Collected Queer and Trans Comics« (2019), coedited with Nour Hifaoui and Joseph Kai from Samandal collective. Bulling’s first fictional comic book »firebugs / abfackeln« (2022) was originally published in 2022 as part of Bulling’s contribution to documenta 15 in Kassel, along with an exhibition and extensive public program revolving around trans and queer strategies in graphic publishing. »firebugs / abfackeln« has been translated into numerous languages, most recently Korean, Italian and Catalan. Bulling lives and works in Berlin. In 2024 they were deputy professor for comics and graphic storytelling in Kassel. They have taught at numerous international institutions such as Sint Lucas (Antwerp) and Hochschule der Künste Bern, and their work has been shown in exhibitions nationally and internationally, most recently at Tomi Ungerer Museum Strasbourg.
