born in 1963 in Bonn, is a journalist and commentator. Since 2020, he has been head of the Politics and Economics department at RTL and ntv. Previously, he worked for Tagesspiegel a.o. and as part of the chief editing staff for Die Welt, Bild, and Der Spiegel, where he continues to write as a columnist. On television, he regularly offers critical commentary on political and economic issues in the RTL program »Mal ehrlich …« [tr. For Real…]. From 2011 to 2020, he co-hosted the political debate show »Augstein & Blome« on Phoenix alongside journalist and publisher Jakob Augstein — a collaboration they have since continued in the late-night RTL segment »Gegenverkehr« [tr. Oncoming Traffic]. Additionally, they have been hosting a podcast since 2023. In 2019, they co-authored the book »Oben und unten. Abstieg, Armut, Ausländer – was Deutschland spaltet« [tr. Over and Under. Descent, Poverty, Foreigners – what Divides Germany], exploring the fault lines dividing German society. Blome has received numerous accolades for his journalistic work, including the Theodor Wolff Prize and the Henri Nannen Prize. Nikolaus Blome lives in Kleinmachnow near Berlin.
