Maya Miyata is a writer. She grew up in Brandenburg and now studies musicology and Asian and African studies in Berlin. She has played the violin since she was six and has since learned other instruments, though she would actually rather conduct. She has been reading, for as long as she can remember, sometimes a great deal and sometimes not at all, and is notoriously restless. She is delighted when her texts move others to tears. With poems about the Oderbruch, Okinawa, family and love, she became a prize winner at the Treffen Junger Autor*innen in 2025. Miyata lives in a rural part of Brandenburg.
